EGF
EGF is responsible for guaranteeing the treatment and recovery of waste in Portugal within a framework of environmental and economical sustainability and contributing towards raising the quality of life and the environment.
The management of waste treatment and recovery systems is carried out by 14 subsidiaries that process around 3 million tons of urban solid waste a year, serving about 53% of the Portuguese population living in 155 Municipalities.
Playing a structural role in supporting the creation and definition of environmental policies for a sustainable management of waste, EGF has as its priority to contribute to the compliance with national and community strategies and goals for the sector, especially the reduction in the disposal of biodegradable waste in landfills and an increase in the selective collection of packaging and biodegradable urban waste.

LIPOR
LIPOR – Intermunicipal Waste Management of Greater Porto – is the entity in charge for the management, recovery and treatment of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) produced by the eight partner municipalities: Espinho, Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Valongo and Vila do Conde. It was built as a Municipalities’ Association in 1982, and since then been implementing an integrated waste management, system through the recovery, extension and construction of infrastructures, and development of awareness campaigns towards the population.

VALORSUL
Valorsul, SA is the company responsible for the treatment of the approximately 750 thousand tons of Municipal Solid Waste produced, per year, in the municipalities of Amadora, Lisbon, Loures, Odivelas and Vila Franca de Xira. Its intervention area corresponds to less than 1% of the total area of the country, but it treats almost one sixth of all domestic residues produced in Portugal. Valorsul’s mission is to develop, implement and manage an integrated system for the treatment and valorisation of the urban solid waste from the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (North), wish is efficient and effective, technically advanced, environmentally and financially sustainable, and generating minimum costs for their users.
