Portuguese Association for Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (APESB)

The Portuguese Association for Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (APESB) is a Portuguese non-profit, scientific and technical association, founded in 1980, recognised as a corporate body of public interest since March 1990.

APESB, the Portuguese National Member of The International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) is a body especially oriented to the study, analysis and discussion of maters in the field of health and environmental related subjects, and public systems on drinking water supply, wastewater (drainage, treatment and disposal), solid waste (collection, treatment and disposal), in order to contribute to the implementation of better, feasible and environmental sustainable solutions.

The main objectives of APESB are related to foster the technical and scientific exchange, including technology transfer at national level and in the Portuguese-speaking countries.

International Solid Waste Association (ISWA)

ISWA, the International Solid Waste Association, is an independent non-profit organisation whose purpose is to promote sustainable waste management worldwide by means of scientific, economic and social instruments. It attempts to achieve this by providing an international network for sharing knowledge and experience, developing training courses and organising meeting, seminars and conferences like annual international ISWA Congress. ISWA has 1,100 members in 64 countries.
